Teddy Dupay Basketball Academy ("TDBA", "we", "us") runs basketball programs for children in Tampa, Florida. Running them means holding some information about your family. This page says plainly what we hold, why we hold it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Questions, or a request about your family's information: teddy@teddydupay.com.
The short version
- We collect a player's first and last name and their birthday or age — from you, the parent, at checkout. Never from the child.
- We collect your name, email address and mobile number, and your billing details go straight to Stripe.
- We never sell your information, or your child's, to anybody. We do not share it for anyone else's advertising.
- A child's name is never published on our website.
- You can ask us what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it.
1. Information we collect, and where it comes from
From you, when you sign a player up:
| What | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Player's name | To put them on the roster and for a coach to find them at the gym |
| Player's birthday or age | Programs are grouped by age and skill; the wrong group is unfair and unsafe |
| Player's gender, shirt size, jersey number (some programs only) | Divisions, and ordering the right jersey |
| Your name, email, mobile number | To confirm the booking, send the details for the night, and reach you if something changes |
| Your billing address and card | Taken and held by Stripe, our payment processor. TDBA never sees or stores your card number. |
From you, when you contact us: whatever you write in an email, a text or the contact form on the Site.
Automatically, when you browse the Site: standard web analytics — pages viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, what kind of device, and which advertisement or search brought you. We use Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) pixel for this. These use cookies. They tell us which pages and which advertisements are working. They are not tied to your child.
2. Children's information — read this part
This is the section the old version of this page got wrong, so it is written plainly.
We do hold information about children. We could not run a youth basketball academy otherwise. Specifically we hold a player's name and their birthday or age, and for some programs their gender, shirt size or jersey number.
All of it comes from a parent or guardian, not from the child. Our website is written for parents. Children do not create accounts, do not log in, do not have profiles, and are never asked by us to type anything into the Site. There is nothing on teddydupay.com directed at a child, and nothing that invites a child to send us information.
We do not advertise to children. Our advertising is aimed at parents.
A child's name never appears publicly. It is not on the website, not in a testimonial, not in a review, and not in a sitemap. Where a parent's words are published, they appear under an adult's first name or anonymously.
How a child's information is used, and nothing else: to place them in the right group, to run the roster and check them in, to reach their parent about their sessions, and to keep the safety and waiver records we are expected to keep.
Photographs and video — TDBA films and photographs at the gym for coaching and for promoting the academy. If you do not want your player photographed or filmed for promotional use, tell us and we will honour it. You do not need to give a reason.
If you want your child's information removed, email teddy@teddydupay.com and we will delete what we are not legally required to keep, and tell you plainly what is left and why. Note that if a player is currently enrolled, deleting their record means taking them off the roster.
3. Why we are allowed to hold it
We hold and use this information because it is necessary to provide the program you bought, because you have given us permission (for example, marketing emails, which you can withdraw any time), and because we have legal and safety obligations — waivers, incident records, and business records including tax.
4. Who else sees it
We share only what a service needs to do its job. We do not sell your information and we do not share it for another company's advertising.
| Who | What they get | What they do with it |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Your name, email, billing and card details | Takes the payment. TDBA never sees the card number. |
| SignRequest | Your name and email | Sends and stores the participation waiver you sign. |
| Our email service | Your name and email | Sends confirmations, session details and academy news. |
| Twilio | Your mobile number | Sends the texts about the program you signed up for. |
| Google Analytics · Meta | Anonymous or pseudonymous browsing data from the Site | Tells us which pages and adverts work. |
| Cloudflare | Standard request data | Hosts and protects the Site. |
| TDBA coaches and staff | The roster for their sessions | Runs the session, checks players in, keeps them safe. |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
5. How long we keep it
- Roster and program records — while the player is with us, and afterwards for as long as we may need them for safety, insurance or a returning family. Ask us and we will delete what we are not required to keep.
- Waivers — kept as our insurers and Florida law expect.
- Payment records — kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Marketing email lists — until you unsubscribe. Unsubscribing does not stop the receipts and essential messages for something you have already paid for.
6. How we keep it safe
Information is held in access-controlled systems. Card details never reach us — they go straight to Stripe. Access to the roster is limited to Teddy and the coaches who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise; if something happened that put your family's information at risk, we would tell you.
7. What you can ask us to do
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you or your player;
- correct anything wrong — a misspelled name, a wrong birthday;
- delete what we are not required to keep;
- stop marketing emails — the unsubscribe link in any email, or just reply and ask;
- stop using your player's image for promotion.
Email teddy@teddydupay.com. We will not make it difficult and we will not charge you.
Florida residents: Florida's Digital Bill of Rights gives some residents additional rights over personal data. Whether or not it applies to a business our size, the requests above are ones we will honour for any family who asks.
Do Not Track: most browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. There is still no agreed standard for how a site should respond, so we do not currently respond to it. We will say so here rather than imply otherwise.
8. Texts
How we handle mobile numbers and text messages, including how to stop them, is set out in the SMS / Text Messaging section at the end of this page.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the "Last updated" date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects how we treat your family's information, we will tell you directly rather than relying on you noticing this page.
