Frequently asked questions
What types of leagues does TDBA offer?
TDBA offers several league formats to cater to different ages and skill levels, including the 5on5 Youth Basketball League and the 3on3 Full Court Developmental League. These leagues are designed to maximize player development and enjoyment.
How do I sign my kid up for a TDBA league?
Right here on this page — pick the league, tap Sign up, and pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a card. It takes about a minute, and there is no account to create. You give us the player's name and age at checkout. Signing up a second child? Do a second checkout so we get both names — the form only takes one player. Today the 3-on-3 is $124.95 per player and the 5-on-5 is $120 per player.
What is the schedule for TDBA leagues?
The 5on5 Leagues are held on Fridays, and the 3on3 Leagues always take place on Saturdays. These schedules are designed to provide players with consistent weekly competition and development opportunities.
Do TDBA leagues have practices during the week?
TDBA leagues are just games. Our training classes run 52 weeks a year, right alongside the leagues — we never stop them. Kids that want to do extra practice come to the regularly scheduled training classes; we do not carve out another night specifically for "league practices." We would always suggest coming to some training classes before a league starts, to meet the coaches and make friends with some of the other kids — it gets rid of the nerves and butterflies, and we get some of the basics tackled first. Classes run Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
How many games do the kids actually play?
In the Saturday 3-on-3 league the kids play four or five 10-minute games inside every 60-minute game block. That is a lot of basketball, and it breeds close games, end-of-game situations, buzzer beaters and teaching moments that never happen in blowouts. The Friday-night 5-on-5 league runs a game night each week of the season.
Are there age restrictions for joining a TDBA league?
The Saturday 3-on-3 developmental league takes boys and girls from age 4 on up through high school, in four age and skill divisions. The Friday-night 5-on-5 league is for ages 7 to 16. All skill levels are welcome in both — players are matched so the competition is fair.
How does TDBA ensure fair play and development in its leagues?
All games in TDBA leagues are coached and refereed by professional TDBA staff, ensuring a high standard of fair play and sportsmanship. Our unique league formats, including full-court 3on3 games, are designed to enhance player development, understanding of the game, and enjoyment.
Can I volunteer as a coach in TDBA leagues?
TDBA leagues are distinguished by their lack of volunteer coaches; all games are coached and refereed by professional TDBA staff. This approach ensures consistent, high-quality coaching and officiating across all our leagues.
What makes TDBA leagues different from other youth basketball leagues?
TDBA leagues focus on player development, understanding of the game, and enjoyment in a professional and supportive environment. Our full-court 3on3 league format is particularly unique, offering players a chance to develop their skills in a game setting that emphasizes space, movement, and decision-making. Additionally, we include a bonus week for playoffs to add an exciting conclusion to the season.
